Reclaiming Music For An Older Generation
Reclaiming Music For An Older Generation
With a focus on looks and youth, many talented artists do not get the chance to get their work heard. Over The Hill provides a platform for people to share their music, learn from professionals and the potential to collaborate
Music is empowering, transformative, insightful and a valuable resource – it has wider implications than just being able to listen or play – it provides freedom of expression, builds confidence and creates community.
Over The Hill Music Collective (OTH) has reclaimed a negative cliché and turned it around. It is is about providing a platform and a voice for older musicians, people who want to use their musical passion who have some music experience and who want to write about that
and share their work.
The Music industry is difficult to break into at any time – for mature musicians it can be almost impossible. OTH breaks down barriers for mature musicians.

We greatly appreciate the partnership support from Help Musicians Northern Ireland.
We also greatly appreciate the support from The Black Santa Sit Out Appeal.
And we’d like to thank the Oh Yeah Music Centre for their continued support as our spiritual home.
For me Over the Hill has become a home from home. A place to share music and ideas with people who accept me and my creative offerings with neither judgement nor criticism. A safe environment to explore new material and collaborate with fellow musicians. It’s so easy to retreat into a musical vacuum and only play in the privacy of your own home.
Over the Hill gave me the opportunity to perform and share my music, without the pressure of public performance. It’s like a hybrid between an open mic and a support group. I’ve met so many wonderful characters and been involved in projects I could only have imagined, had I not joined the collective. It’s helped me gain con dence, both musically and personally. I’d highly recommend it
to anyone with something to share and one night a month to spare.

Over the Hill is a fantastic way to socialise, learn and play music in a supportive and informative environment.
